Seals, eels, and jellyfish star in David Hall's video, Beneath Cold Seas: The Underwater Wilderness of the Pacific Northwest, a complement to his photography book of the same name.
The images, set to music by Matthew Mayer, were taken over 15 years and document the species that thrive along the northwest coast from Northern California to Alaska.
"No one had tried to photograph them artfully before, and that was my goal," the award-winning Hall told me. When I interviewed him for a story that ran in our May-June issue, he explained that he enjoyed overcoming the obstacles of taking photographs in that ecosystem.
