Prior to joining Audubon in 2020, Ferreyra worked at the Chilean Ministry of Environment, where she supported policymaking regarding the oversight of national protected areas, and the development and implementation of the National Biodiversity Strategy. After that, as an independent consultant, Javiera was part of the organization of the Fourth International Marine Protected Areas Congress, hosted by Chile in 2017. In 2018 she was part of the consultant team that developed the draft of the Sixth National Report to the Convention on Biological Biodiversity. She holds a B.S. in natural renewable resources science from Universidad de Chile.
